HOMELESSNESS AND MENTAL ILLNESS

 

Have people been discharged from psychiatric hospital to live homeless on the street? Probably not as many as is commonly assumed (Leff 1993, Craig and Timms 1992). The number of homeless may have been affected more by housing policy than psychiatric deinstitutionalization.
